Best Time to Take Celexa

Celexa® (citalopram hydrobromide) is a medication used to treat depression. If your healthcare provider has recommended this drug for you, you may be wondering, "When is the best time to take Celexa?" You can take Celexa any time during the day. However, if Celexa makes you drowsy, try taking your dosage before bedtime. If it causes insomnia for you, try taking it in the morning. It is important to take your dose at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.

It usually takes several weeks (and maybe even longer) to feel the full, beneficial effects of Celexa. Try not to be discouraged if the drug does not work right away for you. You can take Celexa with or without food. If the medication bothers your stomach, try taking it with food. For Celexa to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. The medication will not work if you take it in a way other than how your healthcare provider prescribes.

If you are unsure about anything related to your Celexa dosage, please talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking the drug without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
