Celexa
® (
citalopram hydrobromide) is a prescription medication used to treat
depression (also known as major depression or clinical depression).
The drug comes in tablet and liquid form. It is taken by mouth, usually once a day. Celexa tablets are available in three strengths:
The liquid form of the medication is available in one strength -- Celexa Oral Solution 10 mg per 5 mL (equal to 10 mg per teaspoonful).
Although most people tolerate Celexa tablets and liquid well, the medication is not suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment with Celexa, make sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you may have or any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).
