Cymbalta 20 mg Capsules

Of the three strengths of Cymbalta® (duloxetine hydrochloride) on the market, Cymbalta 20 mg capsules are the lowest strength available. This medication is used to treat certain conditions, such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and fibromyalgia. The dose you are prescribed will depend on factors such as the medical condition being treated and other medications you are currently taking.
The recommended dose for depression is Cymbalta 20 mg capsules twice daily, 30 mg twice daily, or 60 mg once daily. Doses above 60 mg are not recommended.
Neuropathic Pain
The recommended dosage of Cymbalta for peripheral diabetic neuropathy pain is 60 mg once daily. Your healthcare provider may decide to start you at a lower dose, especially if you have kidney problems.
The recommended dose for generalized anxiety disorder is 60 mg capsules once daily. Your healthcare provider may decide to start you at a lower dose (30 mg capsules once daily) for a week before increasing your Cymbalta dosage to 60 mg once daily, although this is not necessary for everyone.
The recommended starting dose for fibromyalgia treatment is 30 mg capsules once a day for one week, after which your healthcare provider may increase the dose to 60 mg once daily.
Musculoskeletal Pain
The standard recommended dosage for treating chronic musculoskeletal pain (such as arthritis pain or back pack) is Cymbalta 60 mg once daily. In some cases, your healthcare provider may decide to start you with a lower dose (30 mg once daily) for a week, to help you become accustomed to the drug.
