If you have
depression or
schizophrenia, your healthcare provider may prescribe
Deplin® 15-mg tablets to be taken once daily. This prescription vitamin is used in combination with
antidepressant and
antipsychotic medications. Deplin has been shown to help improve a person's response to antidepressants and antipsychotics; however, it should not be used to replace these medications.
To help improve the effectiveness of antidepressant or antipsychotic medications, the typical recommended dose of Deplin is 7.5 mg to 15 mg once daily. However, your specific dosage will depend on the severity of the medical condition being treated, how you respond to Deplin, and other factors. Your dose may also be adjusted based on your blood levels of folate or homocysteine.
