Tofranil (Imipramine)

Healthcare providers prescribe Tofranil® (imipramine hydrochloride) for the following conditions:
 
  • Depression (also known as major depression or clinical depression) in adults
  • Bedwetting in children.

This medication comes in tablet form. When used for depression, it is usually taken by mouth one to four times daily. When used for bedwetting, it is usually taken one hour before bedtime. Most people tolerate Tofranil well; however, as with any medication, side effects are possible. In clinical studies, the most common side effects included:
 
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Drowsiness
  • Confusion.
