Trazodone HCl Drug Information

Trazodone hydrochloride (
Desyrel®) is a type of prescription antidepressant. At this time, it is approved for use in adults only. Although brand-name trazodone tablets are no longer available, generic trazodone is available in three strengths:

  • 50 mg tablets
  • 100 mg tablets
  • 150 mg tablets.
  •
This medication is typically taken one to three times a day, usually after eating. It is recommended to take your dosage after a meal or a snack, as food improves the absorption of trazodone.

Although many people do not have any problems while taking this drug, trazodone is not suitable for everyone. For instance, your healthcare provider will need information on your medical history and current medications to make sure this product is right for you. In clinical trials, commonly reported side effects included dry mouth, dizziness, and fatigue.
