Desipramine and Breastfeeding
Desipramine (Norpramin®) passes through breast milk in low amounts. Due to the possible harmful effects that desipramine might have on a breastfeeding infant, you should talk with your healthcare provider before taking desipramine while breastfeeding.
Very little research has looked at using desipramine in breastfeeding women. It is not clear exactly how much desipramine is passed through breast milk and whether this poses any danger to a breastfeeding baby.
You should talk with your healthcare provider about desipramine and breastfeeding. This is because everyone's situation is different, and your healthcare provider understands your situation best. Based on what you want and expect and your current health situation, you and your healthcare provider can make a shared decision about desipramine and breastfeeding in your particular situation.
