Effexor Warnings and Precautions

There are numerous Effexor warnings and precautions to be aware of. For example, there are certain people who should not take the antidepressant, including those who are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor and those who are allergic to Effexor or its inactive components. Also, Effexor can potentially raise the risk of suicidal thinking or behavior in children, teenagers, and adults. Finally, to reduce the risk of drug interactions, you should tell your healthcare provider (prior to taking Effexor) about all other drugs you are taking.

 

Effexor: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking
 Effexor® (venlafaxine hydrochloride) if you have:
 

 

Also let your healthcare provider know if you:
 
  • Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Drink alcohol regularly.

 

Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you may be currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
