Emsam Drug Interactions

SSRI or SNRI Medications
Due to the risk of serious side effects, you should not take SSRIs or SNRIs together with Emsam. Because certain SSRIs or SNRIs can stay in your body for quite a while, make sure to ask your healthcare provider when you can start taking an SSRI or SNRI after stopping Emsam (or the other way around).
 
Stimulants
Due to the risk of dangerous side effects (such as high blood pressure), you should not take stimulants and Emsam within two weeks of each other.
 
St. John's Wort
You should not take St. John's wort while you are taking Emsam (or if you have taken Emsam within the past 14 days) due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
 
Tramadol (Rybix ODT, Ryzolt, Ultram, Ultram ER) or Tramadol and Acetaminophen (Ultracet)
You should not take tramadol while taking Emsam (or if you have taken Emsam within the past 14 days) due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
 
Tricyclic Antidepressants
Due to the risk of dangerous side effects (such as high blood pressure or seizures), you should not take tricyclic antidepressants and Emsam within two weeks of each other.
