Emsam® (selegiline transdermal patch) is a medication often prescribed to treat depression. It is a type of monoamine oxidase inhibitor that works by increasing the amount of monoamines in the brain, which helps reduce symptoms of depression. Potential side effects include indigestion, rash, and headaches. Emsam, currently the only skin patch approved for treating depression, is available in three different strengths.
