Emsam® (selegiline transdermal patch) is a prescription medication approved for treating depression. By increasing the amount of monoamines in the brain, the drug can help improve symptoms of depression. Emsam comes as a patch that must be applied once a day. While most people tolerate this antidepressant well, potential side effects include skin reactions at the application site, diarrhea, insomnia, and headaches.
