Drug Interactions With Isocarboxazid

Cough, Cold, and Allergy Products
Taking isocarboxazid with many cough, cold, and allergy products (including eye drops or nasal products) can increase your risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure. Most of these products should never be taken with isocarboxazid. Always check with your healthcare provider before taking any cough, cold, or allergy products.
 
Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril)
Do not take cyclobenzaprine and isocarboxazid together, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure or seizures. You will need to wait at least one week after stopping cyclobenzaprine before starting isocarboxazid, and you will need to be started at a lower isocarboxazid dosage.
 
Disulfiram (Antabuse)
There is some evidence that taking disulfiram with isocarboxazid may cause dangerous side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Entacapone (Comtan, Stalevo)
Combining entacapone and isocarboxazid can lead to dangerous side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Levodopa (Parcopa, Sinemet, Sinemet CR, Stalevo)
Do not take levodopa and isocarboxazid together, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure.
 
Methyldopa (Aldomet, Aldoril)
Do not take methyldopa and isocarboxazid together, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure.
 
Meperidine (Demerol)
You should not take meperidine while taking isocarboxazid (or if you have taken isocarboxazid within the past three weeks), due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
 
Miscellaneous Antidepressants
You should not take certain antidepressants while taking isocarboxazid (or if you have taken isocarboxazid within the past 14 days) due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
  
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Do not take isocarboxazid and other MAOIs together, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure or seizures. You will need to wait at least one week after stopping another MAOI before starting isocarboxazid, and you will need to be started at a lower isocarboxazid dosage.
