Generic Ludiomil

Although brand-name Ludiomil is no longer being made, "generic Ludiomil" is still available. Sold under the name Maprotiline tablets, this generic form of Ludiomil is available in a 25 mg, 50 mg, and 75 mg strength.

 

Generic Ludiomil: An Overview

Ludiomil® (maprotiline hydrochloride) is a prescription medication that has been licensed as a depression treatment. Ludiomil is part of a class of medicines known as tricyclic antidepressants.
 
Brand-name Ludiomil is no longer being made. This is common among older medications, especially medications that are no longer used as much. However, generic Ludiomil is still available.
 

Strengths of Generic Ludiomil

Generic Ludiomil tablets are available in the following strengths:
 
  • Maprotiline 25 mg tablets
  • Maprotiline 50 mg tablets
  • Maprotiline 75 mg tablets.
     

Who Makes Generic Ludiomil?

Currently, generic Ludiomil is made by one company -- Mylan Pharmaceuticals. Because the patent for Ludiomil is expired, it is possible that other companies may decide to make generic Ludiomil in the future, although this is not likely since Ludiomil is no longer commonly used. Ludiomil has been largely replaced by other tricyclic antidepressants or other newer antidepressant medications (see Maprotiline Alternatives for more information).
