Depression Home > Aplenzin Dosage
When beginning depression treatment with Aplenzin, the dosage typically starts at 174 mg once daily in the morning. Depending on your response to the medication, your healthcare provider may increase your dose up to a maximum of 522 mg daily. Do not cut, crush, chew, or dissolve the tablets, as it will cause the medication to be released too quickly.
An Introduction to Your Dosage of AplenzinThe dose of Aplenzin™ (bupropion hydrobromide) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
- How you respond to Aplenzin
- Other medications you are taking
- Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Aplenzin Dosing for DepressionThe recommended starting dose of Aplenzin for depression treatment is Aplenzin 174 mg once daily in the morning. As soon as the fourth day, your healthcare provider may increase your dose to Aplenzin 348 mg once daily. This dose is sufficient for many people. To help avoid Aplenzin seizures, the maximum recommended dose is 522 mg once daily.
For people switching from bupropion hydrochloride products (Budeprion XL®, Buproban®, Budeprion XL®, Wellbutrin®, Wellbutrin XL®, and Zyban®), your healthcare provider will convert your dosage appropriately. For instance, 150 mg of bupropion hydrochloride total per day (any product) is equivalent to Aplenzin 174 mg once daily. Similarly, 300 mg of bupropion hydrochloride total per day (any product) is equivalent to Aplenzin 348 mg once daily. Finally, 450 mg of bupropion hydrochloride total per day is equivalent to Aplenzin 522 mg once daily.
People with liver problems (such as liver failure or cirrhosis) or kidney problems (such as kidney failure) may need a lower-than-normal dosage of Aplenzin.
