Depression Home > Wellbutrin SR For Depression

Healthcare providers prescribe Wellbutrin SR® (bupropion SR) for the treatment of depression (also known as major depression or clinical depression). The medication is a sustained-release (long-acting) form of Wellbutrin® (bupropion hydrochloride). By blocking the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine (chemicals within the brain), Wellbutrin SR can rebalance the levels of these chemicals, which helps improve symptoms of depression.
In most cases, Wellbutrin SR is taken twice a day. To keep an even level of the medication in your blood, it's important to take your doses at the same times each day.
