Zoloft and Insomnia: Final Thoughts

It is impossible for your healthcare provider to know whether or not you will develop insomnia while taking Zoloft. Also, in some cases, if a person does develop insomnia while taking Zoloft, it can be difficult to determine whether the difficulty sleeping is a result of the Zoloft, the condition it is being used to treat, other factors, or a combination of these. Insomnia is common with a number of conditions that Zoloft is used to treat. For example, a number of people with depression report experiencing insomnia.

If you develop insomnia while taking Zoloft, make sure to talk with your healthcare provider. There are other treatments that he or she may be able to recommend, including adjusting the Zoloft dosage or trying another depression medicine.
