Parnate and Breastfeeding

Since no research has been conducted on Parnate and breastfeeding in humans, researchers do not know if the medication passes through breast milk. Due to the chemical makeup of the drug, however, it is expected that it will pass through breast milk.

It is not known if Parnate® (tranylcypromine sulfate) passes through breast milk. Due to the possible harmful effects Parnate might have on the breastfeeding infant, you should talk with your healthcare provider before taking Parnate while breastfeeding.
 

Parnate and Breastfeeding: What Does the Research Say?

No research has been done to see if Parnate passes through breast milk in humans (it does pass through breast milk in dogs). However, due to the chemical makeup of Parnate, it is expected that it will pass through human breast milk. It is not known what the effects on a breastfeeding baby might be.
