Parnate Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Parnate is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Apraclonidine (Iopidine)
You should not use apraclonidine eye drops while taking Parnate, due to the risk of dangerously high blood pressure (hypertension).

Atomoxetine (Strattera)
Strattera and Parnate should not be taken together or within two weeks of each other, due to the risks of dangerous side effects.

Blood Pressure Medications
Taking Parnate with high blood pressure medications can increase your risk of low blood pressure (hypotension). Always check with your healthcare provider before taking Parnate with blood pressure medications.

Brimonidine (Alphagan P)
You should not use brimonidine eye drops while taking Parnate, due to the risk of dangerously high blood pressure.

Buspirone (BuSpar)
You should not take buspirone while taking Parnate (or even if you have taken Parnate within the past 10 days), due to the risk of dangerously high blood pressure.

Caffeine
You should use caffeine sparingly while taking Parnate, due to the risk of dangerously high blood pressure. Be aware that many foods and medicines (such as "stay-awake" products and migraine products) contain caffeine.

Carbamazepine (Carbatrol, Epitol, Equetro, Tegretol, Tegretol XR)
Do not take carbamazepine and Parnate within two weeks of each other, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure or seizures.

Cough, Cold, and Allergy Products
Taking Parnate with many cough, cold, and allergy products (including eye drops or nasal products) can increase your risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure.
