Precautions and Warnings With Paroxetine

Before starting treatment, patients should be aware of certain precautions and warnings with paroxetine. For example, paroxetine can pose health risks to the fetus if taken during pregnancy. Also, people who take paroxetine with a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (such as ibuprofen) are at a higher risk for gastrointestinal bleeding. Before taking paroxetine, be sure to tell your doctor if you have diabetes, bipolar disorder, a seizure disorder, or a history of suicide attempts.
