The manufacturer of Paxil CR does not recommend splitting (or chewing or crushing) Paxil CR tablets. Splitting Paxil CR tablets makes them more like regular Paxil tablets, negating any advantages of having the medication released in a controlled manner. If your Paxil CR tablets happen to split on their own, do not take the tablets and report this to your healthcare provider (as this has been a problem in the past with Paxil CR tablets).
