Pexeva Drug Interactions

Intravenous Methylene Blue
Taking Pexeva with intravenous methylene blue can increase your chance of developing dangerous side effects, including serotonin syndrome. Do not take these medications together.
 
Linezolid
Taking Pexeva with linezolid may increase your risk for a serious and potentially dangerous reaction called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Seek immediate medical care if you develop any symptoms of serotonin syndrome.
 
Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid)
Taking Pexeva with lithium can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome (see above), as it can be very dangerous.
 
Medications That "Thin" the Blood
Taking Pexeva with medications that thin the blood can increase your risk for bleeding. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Pexeva with any medication that thins the blood.
 
Miscellaneous Antidepressants
Combining Pexeva with other antidepressants may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be very dangerous.
  
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Pexeva should not be taken with an MAOI. These medications should also not be taken within two weeks of each other. Doing so can cause life-threatening reactions.
 
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Taking Pexeva and NSAIDs together can increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Talk to your healthcare provider before combining these medicines. Contact your healthcare provider if you develop any signs of bleeding while taking Pexeva, including:
 
  • Weakness
  • Stomach pains
  • Black, tarry stools
  • Vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
