Who Should Not Take Pexeva?
You should avoid Pexeva
- Are allergic to it, to Paxil®, to paroxetine hydrochloride, to paroxetine mesylate, or to any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
Are taking linezolid
) or intravenous methylene blue. Pexeva should not be started in people taking linezolid or IV methylene blue, but a person already taking Pexeva may be given linezolid or methylene blue, if absolutely necessary, and only with very careful monitoring and only if Pexeva is stopped during treatment.
- Have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks (see Pexeva Drug Interactions).
- Are taking pimozide (Orap®) or thioridazine (Mellaril®) (see Pexeva Drug Interactions).
There are a number of situations in which Pexeva should not be taken, as well as several safety concerns people should be aware of before starting the medication. However, it is possible that not all of these issues were discussed in this article.
