If you are taking a diuretic, Pristiq could cause low salt levels in the blood (hyponatremia). This generally returns to "normal" when the medication is discontinued. In addition, Pristiq can increase heart rate and blood pressure, and it may not be safe for some people with heart disease. In fact, everyone taking Pristiq should have their blood pressure checked periodically.
