If you have
depression, a healthcare provider may prescribe
Pristiq® (
desvenlafaxine succinate). The dosage amount he or she recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, such as how well you respond to Pristiq, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are currently taking.
For
depression treatment, the recommended starting Pristiq dose is usually 50 mg once daily. Your healthcare provider may decide to increase your dosage if you tolerate it well but have not achieved a satisfactory response to the medication. However, people with liver disease (such as liver failure, hepatitis, or
cirrhosis) should not take more than 100 mg of Pristiq per day.
Do not suddenly stop taking Pristiq, as this could cause withdrawal symptoms. Also, make sure to not break, crush, or chew the tablets.
