Pristiq Risks

Although many people do not experience any problems while taking
Pristiq® (desvenlafaxine succinate), this medication is not free of risks. Some of the most common risks with Pristiq involve side effects such as:

  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Diarrhea
  • Increased sweating.

If any problems do occur, they tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are some potentially serious side effects that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience serious problems such as hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, or difficulty breathing.

Other Pristiq warnings and precautions apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as people who have certain allergies. Also, you may not be able to take Pristiq if you have certain medical conditions, such as bipolar disorder, epilepsy, or liver disease.
