Prozac® is a prescription drug that is licensed to treat certain conditions within the brain. The medication, which is a form of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, has shown to be effective in treating depression, panic disorder, bulimia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. When used in combination with Zyprexa® (olanzapine), it is also approved for treating bipolar depression and treatment-resistant depression.
Prozac capsules come in four different strengths, and the liquid form is available in one strength. The antidepressant may potentially cause side effects in some people, including loss of appetite, insomnia, and diarrhea.
