Prozac Indications

There are several indications for
 Prozac® (fluoxetine hydrochloride). This prescription medication is approved to treat the following conditions:
 
When used in combination with Zyprexa® (olanzapine), it is also approved for treating bipolar depression and treatment-resistant depression.
 
Prozac is approved for the treatment of depression in children age eight and over. It is also approved for the treatment of children with OCD age seven and over. Prozac has not been studied in children or teens with bulimia or panic disorder and is not approved for these uses. Talk to your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using Prozac in children.
 
There are also several "off-label" Prozac uses, such as treating alcoholism, obesity, and anorexia.
