You should not take
Prozac if you:
- Are allergic to Prozac, fluoxetine hydrochloride, or any inactive components used to make Prozac. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks. Also, you should not take an MAOI if you have taken Prozac within the past five weeks. MAOIs include:
- You are taking pimozide (Orap®). Pimozide is a medication used to treat Tourette syndrome and to prevent hallucinations.
- You are taking thioridazine (Mellaril®), an antipsychotic medication. Also, do not take thioridazine if you have taken Prozac within the past five weeks.
