As with any other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), Prozac® (fluoxetine hydrochloride) can cause withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stop taking the medication. Some of the possible symptoms of Prozac withdrawal can include confusion, headaches, and burning or tingling sensations. In most people, these symptoms will improve with time, without the need for any treatment. However, if you are considering stopping Prozac, make sure to talk to your healthcare provider. He or she will gradually decrease your dosage to help prevent withdrawal symptoms.
