St. John's Wort? St. Johns wart is a common misspelling of St. John's wort.
St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) is commonly used to treat depression and other health problems. This naturally occurring substance is believed to work by increasing the amount of certain brain chemicals. There is quite a bit of evidence suggesting that St. John's wort is effective for treating depression. However, a few important studies have shown that St. John's wort is no more effective than a placebo (a "sugar pill" that does not contain any active ingredients).
