Negative Effects of Trazodone

In most cases, the
 antidepressant trazodone hydrochloride (Desyrel®) is a safe and effective treatment for depression (also called major depression or clinical depression). However, trazodone can sometimes cause negative effects, such as:
 
 
Serious side effects (such as suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, or difficulty breathing) are also possible; however, they are not as common.
