Trazodone Drug Side Effects

In clinical studies, some of the most common side effects reported with the depression drug trazodone hydrochloride (Desyrel®) included:
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Nervousness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Fatigue.
Rare side effects include increased appetite, muscle twitches, and increased sex drive, among others. In most cases, side effects are minor and either don't require medical attention or can be easily treated. However, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately if you develop problems such as suicidal thoughts or behavior, hallucinations, or any signs of an allergic reaction.
Trazodone may not be suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment, be sure to tell your healthcare provider about all the medications you take and any other medical conditions you have, including bipolar disorder and heart disease.
