Many
antidepressants can take several weeks to begin working. However, unlike a lot of other antidepressants,
trazodone hydrochloride (
Desyrel®) may start to relieve your symptoms within just one or two weeks, although sometimes it can take up to four weeks to start working.
As you start your treatment with trazodone, keep in mind that in order for the drug to work properly, it must be taken exactly as prescribed. Trazodone will not work if you take it differently from how your healthcare provider recommends.
