Viibryd Warnings and Precautions
You should avoid Viibryd if you:
- Are allergic to it, vilazodone, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Are taking linezolid (Zyvox®) or intravenous methylene blue. Viibryd should not be started in people taking linezolid or IV methylene blue, but a person already taking Viibryd may be given linezolid or methylene blue, if absolutely necessary, and only with very careful monitoring and only if Viibryd is stopped during treatment.
- Are currently taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks (see Viibryd Drug Interactions).
There are a number of situations in which Viibryd should not be taken, as well as several precautions and warnings people should be aware of before beginning treatment. However, it is possible that not all of these issues were discussed in this article. Therefore, talk with your healthcare provider about the safety concerns that may apply to you.
