Wellbutrin SR Drug Interactions

Beta Blockers
Wellbutrin SR may raise the levels of beta blockers in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely and may need to decrease your dose of beta blockers.

Certain Arrhythmia Medications
Wellbutrin SR may raise the levels of certain arrhythmia medications in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely, especially when starting or stopping Wellbutrin SR.

Clopidogrel
Clopidogrel may slow the metabolism of Wellbutrin SR in the body, potentially leading to high levels of Wellbutrin SR and a potentially higher risk of Wellbutrin SR side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan)
While it is thought that cyclophosphamide may interact with Wellbutrin SR, there have been no reports of such an interaction in actual patients. If you are taking cyclophosphamide along with Wellbutrin SR, your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely and may need to adjust your doses of these medications.

Doxorubicin (Adriamycin, Doxil)
Doxorubicin may raise the level of Wellbutrin SR in your blood, increasing your chances of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your Wellbutrin SR dose while you are taking doxorubicin.

Efavirenz (Sustiva)
Efavirenz may increase the metabolism of Wellbutrin SR, leading to decreased levels of Wellbutrin SR in the blood, and possibly to decreased effectiveness. Check with your healthcare provider before taking such medications together. You may need a higher Wellbutrin SR dosage, although the maximum recommended dosage should not be exceeded, even if you are taking efavirenz.
