Wellbutrin XL® (bupropion XL) is licensed to treat depression and prevent seasonal affective disorder (SAD) by helping to balance certain chemicals in the brain. The medication comes in tablet form, and is taken once a day in the morning. The Wellbutrin XL dosage that your healthcare provider prescribes will depend on factors such as your age, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are taking.
 
This drug is not appropriate for everyone. Prior to taking it, tell your healthcare provider if you have epilepsy, a history of head trauma, diabetes or any allergies. While most people have no problems with Wellbutrin XL, side effects are possible. In clinical studies, commonly reported ones included dry mouth, weight loss, and insomnia.
