Wellbutrin XL and Hair Loss

Hair loss is an infrequent side effect of bupropion, the active ingredient of Wellbutrin XL^® (bupropion XL). This occurs in between 1 in 100 to 1 in 1,000 people who take bupropion. If you experience hair loss while taking Wellbutrin XL, talk with your healthcare provider. Depending on the severity of the hair loss, he or she may be able to recommend treatment options. If the hair loss is bothersome to you, your healthcare provider may recommend adjusting the Wellbutrin XL dosage or trying another medicine for your condition.
