Recommendations for Preventing Wellbutrin Seizures
In order to prevent
Wellbutrin seizures in anyone taking the medicine, the total dose of Wellbutrin or
Wellbutrin XL should not exceed 450 mg per day. The dose of
Wellbutrin SR should not exceed 400 mg total per day (or more than 200 mg per individual dose). For the short-acting Wellbutrin, splitting the Wellbutrin dose into three smaller doses (of 150 mg or less) taken throughout the day also helps to prevent
seizures. Make sure to tell your healthcare provider right away if you experience seizures while taking Wellbutrin.
If you have any of the above conditions, Wellbutrin may not be recommended for you. Be sure to talk with your healthcare provider about this before taking Wellbutrin. If you have a seizure while taking Wellbutrin, it is recommended that your healthcare provider take you off Wellbutrin, and that you not take Wellbutrin in the future.
