Zoloft Drug Interactions

In the case of Zoloft, drug interactions may occur with medications such as lithium, pimozide, and aspirin. Other medications that can react with Zoloft include warfarin, ibuprofen, and linezolid. Some interactions can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome, which can be dangerous. Alcohol and Zoloft are also a negative combination, causing unwanted side effects.

Zoloft Interactions: An Overview

 Zoloft® (sertraline hydrochloride) can potentially react with a number of other medicines. Some of the medications that can cause drug interactions with Zoloft include:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Aspirin
  • Certain arrhythmia medications, including propafenone (Rythmol®), flecainide (Tambocor®), and quinidine
  • Cimetidine (Tagamet®)
  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
  • Disulfiram (Antabuse®)
  • Linezolid (Zyvox®)
  • Lithium (Eskalith®, Lithobid®)
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as:
 
 
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
 
 
  • Pimozide (Orap®)
  • Other SSRI or SNRI medications, such as:
