Who Should Not Take Zoloft?
You should not take
Zoloft if:
- You are allergic to Zoloft, sertraline hydrochloride, or any inactive components used to make Zoloft. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients used to make Zoloft.
- You have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks. Also, you should not take an MAOI if you have taken Zoloft within the past two weeks. MAOIs include:
- You are taking pimozide (Orap®). Pimozide is a medication used to treat Tourette syndrome and also used to prevent hallucinations.
- You are taking disulfiram (Antabuse®). This only applies to the Zoloft oral concentrate, which contains alcohol.
